Local Environmental Conditions
Located within the neighborhood, this area has a waterway lined with river oak, a wind-pollinated species and one of the more potent allergen sources along Australian creeks and rivers. This area, within the neighborhood's edge, has woodland where eucalypt stands alongside wattle, the latter especially aggressive as an allergen when in full flower.
The waterside river oak is consistently first to release pollen each year, starting well before the main spring rush, topping out around September. As spring approaches, eucalypt and wattle in the nearby woodland become the dominant source, usually hitting its highest point sometime between mid-August and mid-September. By late spring, grass pollen is climbing steadily toward a November high point, before gradually tapering off through the peak of summer into February.
