Local Environmental Conditions
The waterway's edge supports river oak, a species whose fine pollen travels well beyond the immediate bank, in the wider area. Located within the neighborhood's edge, this area has tree cover made up mostly of eucalypt and wattle, wattle in particular a well-known seasonal trigger. A green space of mown lawn and planted plane trees, both feeding into local pollen counts, in the surrounding area.
Near the bank, river oak leads the seasonal calendar, starting well before the main spring rush, topping out around September. Eucalypt and wattle in the woodland come next, as wattle bursts into flower, building to its sharpest point across August and September. Grass pollen counts rise through spring, reaching their peak around November, before staying elevated through the summer months into late January.

Pollen can travel long distances, but this usually matters only early in the season or during specific wind events.
Are pollen levels in Clovelly based on measurements or forecasts?
Pollen data is often misunderstood. Most "pollen levels" are not real-time measurements, but forecasts.
Direct pollen measurements are typically delayed by 1-2 days because they require manual analysis. To show current conditions in Clovelly, modern forecasts combine recent measurements, weather data, and information about local vegetation.
This allows us to estimate pollen levels for today and the coming days, not just report the past.
