Local Environmental Conditions
Most of the area around this site in Berserker is built-up land, with a good deal of woodland and some open water. The damp ground beside a watercourse nearby supports trees, shrubs and reeds, adding to local pollen. The surrounding woodland makes trees an important local pollen source. Beyond the trees, grasses matter a great deal, and pigweed is the main weed source.
Flowering trees bring the first pollen of the year in early spring. Grasses take over in early spring and keep pollen in the air into mid-fall. Later, pigweed keeps weed pollen in the air from early summer into early fall. Fall is the wettest time of year, and heavy showers can bring short breaks in pollen.

Does pollen in Berserker come from nearby or far away?
Studies show that most pollen exposure (often 70–90%) comes from nearby sources, such as local trees and vegetation. A good pollen forecast therefore depends on accurately representing local vegetation. Pollen can travel long distances, but this usually matters only early in the season or during specific wind events.
Are pollen levels in Berserker based on measurements or forecasts?
Pollen data is often misunderstood. Most "pollen levels" are not real-time measurements, but forecasts.
Direct pollen measurements are typically delayed by 1-2 days because they require manual analysis. To show current conditions in Berserker, modern forecasts combine recent measurements, weather data, and information about local vegetation.
This allows us to estimate pollen levels for today and the coming days, not just report the past.
