The Woodlands' air quality reflects its position north of Houston in the forested Montgomery County suburban corridor, with vehicle emissions from I-45 and the surrounding ExxonMobil corporate campus contributing local sources. The Sam Houston National Forest provides a substantial clean-air buffer, while Gulf of Mexico southerly breezes provide warm-season ventilation and woodland setting generally maintains better conditions than the Houston industrial corridor.
