Paradise's air quality in Nevada reflects the Las Vegas Valley's enclosed Mojave Desert basin, with the Strip's concentrated resort, convention, and vehicle traffic generating some of the valley's highest localised NOₓ emissions alongside vehicle emissions from the I-15 Las Vegas Boulevard corridor. Windblown desert dust contributes PM10, while summer heat drives intense ozone formation from the concentrated urban emissions in this densely developed unincorporated Clark County resort community surrounding the Las Vegas Strip.

Paradise sees air quality change through the year. In short, winter is generally the cleanest season, with cooler temperatures and less dust in the air, whereas intense summer heat combines with occasional dust events to create the year's worst episodes. Monsoon storms in July and August can either clear the air with rain or stir up dust ahead of the storm front.

Are air quality levels in Paradise based on measurements or forecasts?

It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere.
