Olympic National Park's air quality benefits from its exceptional Pacific Ocean and Hoh Rain Forest position on Washington's Olympic Peninsula, with powerful Pacific westerlies providing among the Pacific Northwest's most outstanding maritime ventilation. The remote temperate rainforest wilderness and the Pacific coastal exposure generally maintain excellent conditions, while summer wildfire smoke from Eastern Washington and Oregon forests is an increasingly severe seasonal concern though the coastal fog and rain generally maintain very good baseline conditions.
