Millcreek's air quality faces Utah's severe winter inversion problem, with the Salt Lake Valley's enclosed Wasatch Front basin trapping vehicle emissions under persistent cold-air pools between the Wasatch Range and the Great Salt Lake. Vehicle emissions from I-215 and the surrounding urban Salt Lake County residential character are the primary local sources, while summer air quality is generally excellent creating the dramatic seasonal contrast characteristic of all of Utah's enclosed mountain valley communities.
