Glacier National Park's air quality benefits from its exceptional Montana Rocky Mountain position, with consistent Pacific westerly winds providing outstanding maritime and mountain ventilation through the Continental Divide wilderness. The extraordinary remote wilderness generally maintains excellent conditions with outstanding visibility, while summer wildfire smoke from surrounding Montana, Idaho, and BC forests has become an increasingly severe and prolonged seasonal challenge and the park generally maintains very good baseline conditions during smoke-free periods throughout the year.
