Doral's air quality reflects its position adjacent to Miami International Airport in Miami-Dade County, with concentrated aviation and ground vehicle emissions generating elevated NOₓ and ultrafine particles alongside vehicle traffic on SR-836 and the Dolphin Expressway. Consistent Atlantic and Gulf sea breezes provide maritime ventilation, while the airport's extraordinary passenger volume and the Doral logistics corridor's freight operations make this one of Florida's more aviation-influenced urban environments.

Is air quality bad in Doral right now?
On 9 August 2026, overall air quality in Doral is poor. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 69.4/100. Pollution peaks around 5:00 AM (PM10: 69.4/100).

When is air pollution at its worst in Doral?
Like most US cities, Doral sees air quality shift from season to season. Typically, the wetter summer months often see cleaner air, as frequent afternoon storms wash pollution out quickly, while dry-season wildfire and prescribed-burn smoke, mainly from late autumn through spring, is the main seasonal concern. Sea breezes help disperse pollution on most days, though smoke from inland fires can still drift into populated areas.
Are air quality levels in Doral based on measurements or forecasts?
It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
Why doesn’t the forecast always reflect wildfire impacts?
Airmine’s forecast uses CAMS (Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service) as its background atmospheric model. While CAMS includes wildfire emissions, these are derived from satellite observations and are not available in real time. During rapidly evolving wildfire events, there may therefore be a delay before increased emissions are incorporated into the model. As a result, the forecast may temporarily underestimate PM₂.₅ and other pollutants associated with wildfire smoke.
During rapidly evolving wildfire events, CAMS may lag by approximately 1–2 days before increased wildfire emissions are fully represented, which can lead to temporary underestimation of PM₂.₅ concentrations in Airmine’s forecast.
