Catalina Foothills' air quality reflects the Sonoran Desert basin south of Tucson at 800 metres elevation in the Santa Catalina Mountain foothills, with vehicle emissions from Oracle Road and Campbell Avenue the primary local sources. The elevated foothills position provides better dispersal than the flat Tucson valley floor, while windblown desert dust contributes PM10 and summer monsoon ozone from vehicle and desert landscape emissions are the primary seasonal air quality concerns throughout the year.
