Aloha's air quality reflects the Tualatin Valley's partial topographic enclosure in the Portland metropolitan area's Washington County, with vehicle emissions from TV Highway (OR-8) the primary local source. The valley's winter inversion problem concentrates wood-burning and vehicle emissions under persistent cold-air pools, while summer wildfire smoke from Oregon and Washington forests is an increasingly severe seasonal concern and the coastal range partially reduces the direct Pacific sea breeze benefit that inner Portland receives throughout the year.
