Most's air quality faces serious challenges from the North Bohemian lignite mining and chemical industry corridor, with the surrounding Litvínov and Záluží chemical complexes — including the Unipetrol Chempark — generating elevated industrial SO₂, benzene, and PM2.5 alongside the lignite open-cast mining operations in one of the Czech Republic's most industrially intensive regions. The flat North Bohemian basin and Ore Mountain barrier create the primary topographic influences throughout the year.
