The elevated plateau position provides naturally good background dispersal, while consistent Atlantic trade wind influence at altitude generally maintains cleaner conditions than the lowland semi-arid Sertão below and the surrounding Atlantic Forest-Cerrado ecotone provides a relatively clean environmental backdrop.
