Tucuruí's air quality reflects its position on the Tocantins river in Pará, with the Tucuruí hydroelectric dam complex operations and vehicle emissions from the PA-150 contributing local sources. The large Tucuruí reservoir provides humidity and limited ventilation, while dry season burning from surrounding Pará Amazon deforestation generates intense PM2.5 episodes between June and October that dominate the regional air quality across the entire southeastern Pará corridor.
