Tauá's air quality reflects the Ceará semi-arid interior at 352 metres in the Inhamuns corridor, with vehicle emissions from the BR-020 and surrounding cattle, cotton, and subsistence farming contributing local sources. Drought conditions and Caatinga burning contribute seasonal PM10 elevation, while the flat Inhamuns semi-arid terrain generally allows reasonable dispersal and the inland position reduces the beneficial Atlantic trade wind coastal ventilation significantly throughout the dry season months.
