Sorriso' air quality faces severe seasonal challenges as the world's largest soybean producer municipality in northern Mato Grosso, with dry season burning from surrounding Amazon and Cerrado agricultural conversion generating intense PM2.5 episodes between June and October. Vehicle emissions from the BR-163 contribute year-round, while the flat agricultural plain's calm dry season conditions allow smoke to accumulate extensively.
