Rio Verde's air quality reflects its position on the Goiás southwest plateau at 748 metres, with vehicle emissions from the BR-060 and the surrounding soybean and corn agribusiness complex — making Rio Verde one of Brazil's largest grain producers — contributing agricultural dust, ammonia, and burning emissions during the dry season harvest period. The elevated plateau position aids background dispersal, while dry season burning from surrounding Cerrado agricultural conversion is the primary seasonal air quality influence between June and September.
