Planaltina's air quality reflects its position in the greater Brasília metropolitan area in Goiás, with vehicle emissions from the GO-118 and surrounding agricultural and residential character contributing local sources in this major Brasília satellite city. Dry season burning from surrounding Cerrado agricultural land contributes severe seasonal PM2.5 variation between June and September that dominates the entire Federal District and Goiás Entorno region throughout the burning season.
