Piripiri's air quality reflects the Piauí Ibiapaba highland transition at 181 metres near the Ceará border, with vehicle emissions from the BR-222 and surrounding cattle, cashew, and agricultural operations contributing local sources. The Ibiapaba highlands to the west create topographic variation, while drought conditions and Caatinga burning contribute seasonal PM10 elevation and the semi-arid terrain generally allows reasonable wind dispersal on most days throughout the year.
