Monte Alegre's air quality reflects the Pará Amazon western region at the Tapajós confluence, with dry season burning from surrounding Amazon deforestation generating intense PM2.5 episodes between June and October. Vehicle emissions from the PA-254 and surrounding agricultural operations contribute year-round, while the Amazon river's wide corridor provides limited ventilation and the flat western Pará Amazon basin's calm dry season conditions allow fire smoke to accumulate extensively throughout the region.
