Medianeira's air quality reflects the Paraná western plateau at 420 metres near the Foz do Iguaçu border region, with vehicle emissions from the BR-277 and surrounding soybean, corn, and agribusiness operations contributing local sources. The elevated plateau position aids background dispersal, while dry season burning from surrounding Paraná agricultural land contributes seasonal PM2.5 variation, and the Itaipú reservoir's humidity and the proximity to the Atlantic Forest remnants provide some environmental buffering throughout the year.
