The elevated plateau position aids background dispersal, while dry season burning from surrounding Paraná agricultural land contributes seasonal PM2.5 variation, and the Itaipú reservoir's humidity and the proximity to the Atlantic Forest remnants provide some environmental buffering throughout the year.
