Limoeiro do Norte's air quality reflects the Ceará lower Jaguaribe valley, with vehicle emissions from the BR-116 and surrounding irrigated fruit farming and soybean operations contributing local sources. Dry season burning from surrounding Caatinga agricultural land contributes seasonal PM10 elevation, while the flat Jaguaribe river valley terrain generally allows reasonable dispersal and the lower valley altitude reduces the beneficial trade wind ventilation compared to highland Ceará cities throughout the year.
