Ji-Paraná's air quality faces severe seasonal challenges as a major Rondônia Amazon frontier city at the heart of one of Brazil's most active deforestation corridors, with dry season burning generating intense PM2.5 episodes between June and October. Vehicle emissions from the BR-364 contribute year-round, while the flat western Amazon basin's calm dry season conditions allow agricultural and deforestation smoke to accumulate extensively.
