Drought conditions and Caatinga burning contribute seasonal PM10 and PM2.5 elevation, while the semi-arid terrain generally allows reasonable wind dispersal on most days and the inland position reduces the beneficial Atlantic trade wind coastal ventilation significantly throughout the dry season.
