Ibiúna's air quality benefits from its elevated position in the São Paulo state Serra do Mar foothills at 894 metres, with the surrounding Atlantic Forest remnants and Capivari river headwaters providing a relatively clean mountain environment. Vehicle emissions from the SP-250 and the surrounding floriculture and weekend residential corridor are the primary local sources, while the elevated forested position generally maintains better conditions than the São Paulo metropolitan average on most days.
