Guanambi's air quality reflects the Bahia semi-arid interior Sertão, with vehicle emissions from the BR-430 and surrounding cotton, sisal, and livestock operations contributing local sources. Drought conditions and Caatinga burning contribute seasonal PM10 elevation, while the flat semi-arid terrain generally allows reasonable wind dispersal on most days and the inland position reduces the beneficial Atlantic trade wind ventilation compared to coastal Bahia cities throughout the year.
