Frutal's air quality reflects the Minas Gerais Triângulo Mineiro plateau at 565 metres on the Frutal river, with vehicle emissions from the BR-153 and surrounding sugarcane, soybean, and cattle agribusiness contributing local sources. Dry season burning from surrounding Cerrado agricultural land contributes seasonal PM2.5 variation between June and September, while the flat plateau terrain generally allows reasonable dispersal and the agricultural burning represents the primary seasonal air quality influence throughout the year.
