Catalão's air quality reflects the southeastern Goiás plateau at 840 metres, with the Vale mining and phosphate fertiliser manufacturing operations contributing elevated mineral dust PM10 and industrial emissions alongside vehicle emissions from the BR-050. Dry season burning from surrounding Cerrado agricultural land contributes seasonal PM2.5 variation throughout the year.
