Canindé's air quality reflects the Ceará semi-arid Sertão interior in the upper Canindé river basin, with vehicle emissions from the CE-065 and surrounding cattle, cotton, and pilgrimage tourism operations contributing local sources. Drought conditions and Caatinga burning contribute seasonal PM10 elevation, while the flat semi-arid terrain generally allows reasonable wind dispersal on most days and the inland position reduces the beneficial Atlantic trade wind coastal ventilation throughout the year.
