Candeias' air quality reflects its position in the Salvador metropolitan industrial corridor in Bahia, with the CIA Aruba industrial complex and surrounding petrochemical operations generating elevated industrial PM2.5 and VOCs alongside vehicle traffic on the BR-324. Atlantic trade winds from the Bahia coast provide general background ventilation, while the industrial concentration of the Camaçari-Candeias corridor makes this one of northeastern Brazil's more industrially impacted metropolitan municipalities.
