Brejo Santo's air quality reflects the Ceará southern Sertão at the Pernambuco border in the Cariri region, with vehicle emissions from the BR-230 and surrounding cotton, cattle, and irrigated farming contributing local sources. Drought and Caatinga burning contribute seasonal PM10 elevation, while the Araripe highland to the north creates topographic variation and the semi-arid terrain generally allows reasonable dispersal, providing somewhat better conditions than the lower-elevation Sertão regions throughout the year.
