Bezerros' air quality reflects the Pernambuco Agreste semi-arid interior at 520 metres, with vehicle emissions from the BR-232 and surrounding grape, sisal, and agricultural operations contributing local sources. Atlantic trade winds from the Pernambuco coast provide background ventilation, while drought conditions and Caatinga burning contribute seasonal PM10 elevation, and the elevated Agreste plateau position provides better dispersal than the lower semi-arid Sertão regions throughout the year.
