Tucked among karri forests on Western Australia's south coast, Denmark sits squarely in the path of the Southern Ocean's cleansing winds, giving it some of the freshest air of any town in the region. Dense native forest cover and low population density mean there is little everyday pollution to speak of. The main seasonal concern is bushfire smoke between December and March, when dry conditions can bring fire risk to the surrounding timber country and haze into town on windier days. Humidity stays comparatively low through summer, typical of the Mediterranean climate, and outside fire season the air remains reliably clean.

Is air quality bad in Denmark right now?
On 16 July 2026, overall air quality in Denmark is fair. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 29.6/100. Pollution peaks around 10:00 AM (NO2: 29.6/100).
Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Denmark?

When is air pollution at its worst in Denmark?
The least favourable stretch for air quality in Denmark is hot, dry summer stretches, when bushfire smoke occasionally interrupts otherwise excellent air quality. Away from fire season, a consistent onshore breeze generally keeps air quality high. Sensitive groups should watch forecasts during that period rather than assume year-round conditions apply.
Are air quality levels in Denmark based on measurements or forecasts?
It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
