Cleveland, on the shores of Moreton Bay south-east of Brisbane, benefits from consistent bay and ocean breezes that keep its air well-ventilated and generally clean for most of the year. As a mostly residential and marina town, it has little heavy industry, with traffic along commuter routes into Brisbane the main everyday source of local emissions. Bushfire smoke remains the most significant seasonal risk, particularly during the dry period from late winter into spring before wet-season rains arrive. Humid summer conditions can occasionally support ozone formation on still days. Air quality is generally very good.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is air quality bad in Cleveland right now?

On 16 July 2026, overall air quality in Cleveland is good. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 17.0/100. Pollution peaks around 1:00 PM (O3: 17.0/100).

Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Cleveland?

When is air pollution at its worst in Cleveland?

Air in Cleveland is generally clean, but that changes during the drier months from August to November, when bushfire haze is likeliest, plus cane-burning smoke wherever sugarcane grows nearby. Muggy, windless summer afternoons bring their own ozone build-up too. Keeping half an eye on forecasts during that stretch is the practical takeaway otherwise.

Are air quality levels in Cleveland based on measurements or forecasts?

It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
