Local Environmental Conditions
Around this part of Bungonia, traffic is light and there are few concentrated sources of air pollution. Woodland in the area offers some natural filtering of particles from traffic. On some days, pollution drifting in from farther away outweighs local sources. Exhaust from nearby roads is usually highest close to busy streets and junctions.
Ozone is the main concern in January, when sunny days averaging 20°C turn traffic and other emissions into ozone by mid-afternoon. Particle levels tend to be highest from June to July, when wood burning and traffic add more emissions and cold, calm spells at around 7°C slow their dispersal. Short-term changes follow the weather: calm spells raise levels, while breezy or rainy days lower them.

Frequently Asked Questions About Air Quality in New South Wales
Is air quality bad in Adams Lookout right now?
On 7 October 2026, overall air quality in Adams Lookout is fair. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 20.5/100. Pollution peaks around 11:00 PM (PM2.5: 20.5/100).
Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Adams Lookout?
On 8 October 2026, air quality conditions in Adams Lookout will be similar to today, with AQI forecast at fair at 34.8/100. Pollution peaks around 7:00 AM (PM2.5: 34.8/100).
When is air pollution at its worst in Adams Lookout?
Ozone is the main concern in January, when sunny days averaging 20°C turn traffic and other emissions into ozone by mid-afternoon. Particle levels tend to be highest from June to July, when wood burning and traffic add more emissions and cold, calm spells at around 7°C slow their dispersal. Short-term changes follow the weather: calm spells raise levels, while breezy or rainy days lower them.
Are air quality levels in Adams Lookout based on measurements or forecasts?
It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
Why doesn’t the forecast always reflect wildfire impacts?
Airmine’s forecast uses CAMS (Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service) as its background atmospheric model. While CAMS includes wildfire emissions, these are derived from satellite observations and are not available in real time. During rapidly evolving wildfire events, there may therefore be a delay before increased emissions are incorporated into the model. As a result, the forecast may temporarily underestimate PM₂.₅ and other pollutants associated with wildfire smoke.
During rapidly evolving wildfire events, CAMS may lag by approximately 1–2 days before increased wildfire emissions are fully represented, which can lead to temporary underestimation of PM₂.₅ concentrations in Airmine’s forecast.
Understanding the Scale
The 0–100 air quality scores represent risk levels, not direct air pollutant concentrations. Higher scores indicate higher risk.
Air Quality
| Good | 0-20 | Low air quality risk. Air quality is expected to be good, with low levels of pollution. |
| Fair | 20-40 | Generally low air quality risk. Air quality is expected to be acceptable, with some pollution present. |
| Moderate | 40-60 | Moderate air quality risk. Air pollution is elevated and air quality may be less favorable. |
| Poor | 60-80 | High air quality risk. Air pollution is high and air quality is expected to be poor. |
| Very Poor | 80-100 | Very high air quality risk. Air pollution is very high and air quality is expected to be very poor. |
