Local Environmental Conditions
The heart of Bargara combines built-up streets with more open land, so local traffic matters, though emissions are less concentrated than in a city center. The open grass and scrubland around the area can add dust in dry weather and smoke from occasional fires. Parks and street trees provide a modest buffer against traffic pollution. Breezes off the nearby water usually help clear pollutants away.
From September to May, strong sunshine and temperatures around 26°C drive ozone formation, with levels peaking in the afternoon. In the mildest months, June to August, calmer nights at around 17°C allow traffic pollution to build up near the ground. Wildfire smoke is most likely from August to September, sometimes turning the sky hazy for days.

Frequently Asked Questions About Air Quality in Queensland
Is air quality bad in Bargara right now?
On 7 October 2026, overall air quality in Bargara is fair. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 22.9/100. Pollution peaks around 11:00 PM (O3: 22.9/100).
Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Bargara?
On 8 October 2026, air quality conditions in Bargara will be similar to today, with AQI forecast at fair at 25.8/100. Pollution peaks around 1:00 PM (PM2.5: 25.8/100).
When is air pollution at its worst in Bargara?
From September to May, strong sunshine and temperatures around 26°C drive ozone formation, with levels peaking in the afternoon. In the mildest months, June to August, calmer nights at around 17°C allow traffic pollution to build up near the ground. Wildfire smoke is most likely from August to September, sometimes turning the sky hazy for days.
Are air quality levels in Bargara based on measurements or forecasts?
It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
Why doesn’t the forecast always reflect wildfire impacts?
Airmine’s forecast uses CAMS (Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service) as its background atmospheric model. While CAMS includes wildfire emissions, these are derived from satellite observations and are not available in real time. During rapidly evolving wildfire events, there may therefore be a delay before increased emissions are incorporated into the model. As a result, the forecast may temporarily underestimate PM₂.₅ and other pollutants associated with wildfire smoke.
During rapidly evolving wildfire events, CAMS may lag by approximately 1–2 days before increased wildfire emissions are fully represented, which can lead to temporary underestimation of PM₂.₅ concentrations in Airmine’s forecast.
Understanding the Scale
The 0–100 air quality scores represent risk levels, not direct air pollutant concentrations. Higher scores indicate higher risk.
Air Quality
| Good | 0-20 | Low air quality risk. Air quality is expected to be good, with low levels of pollution. |
| Fair | 20-40 | Generally low air quality risk. Air quality is expected to be acceptable, with some pollution present. |
| Moderate | 40-60 | Moderate air quality risk. Air pollution is elevated and air quality may be less favorable. |
| Poor | 60-80 | High air quality risk. Air pollution is high and air quality is expected to be poor. |
| Very Poor | 80-100 | Very high air quality risk. Air pollution is very high and air quality is expected to be very poor. |
