Runners complete multiple laps of a roughly 2.6-kilometer circuit, mostly along pedestrian and cycle paths with a short stretch on quiet residential road, and with virtually no elevation change throughout. This closed, traffic-free layout makes it a popular choice for runners chasing a personal best. Perseløpet is run as part of a broader race series that also offers 3K, 5K, half marathon and marathon distances across multiple dates throughout the year, making it a flexible option for runners at every level.
Because Perseløpet is held at different times of year — from early summer through autumn — the conditions along the 2.6-kilometer loop shift with the seasons. In spring and early summer, tree and grass pollen tend to be the main factor as the course winds through park paths and open nature areas around Ås skole. Later in summer, grass pollen typically takes over as the dominant allergen. By autumn, pollen levels generally ease off, though weeds and mould can still linger in the greener stretches.
