Varna's pollen season runs from February through July, opening with oak and acacia from late winter before grass pollen from surrounding Bulgarian Black Sea coast farmland peaks through May and June. The Black Sea coastal position means onshore sea breezes can periodically disperse pollen, while the relatively mild Black Sea climate extends the season slightly compared to inland Bulgarian cities.
