Local Environmental Conditions
The center of Eisenstadt is surrounded mainly by built-up land, with a good deal of woodland and some open grassland. Allergenic trees nearby include maple. Grasses also feature strongly, alongside pigweed among the weeds. In the immediate area, street trees, parks and lawns are the main sources in the built-up parts.
Tree pollen peaks in mid-spring, when the weather warms to around 10°C and maple is in full flower. Grasses take over in early summer, with temperatures around 20°C, and their pollen lingers into late summer. Pigweed brings a final peak from midsummer into mid-fall. Summer is the wettest time of year, and heavy showers can bring short breaks in pollen. By late fall, pollen levels are low again.

Does pollen in Eisenstadt come from nearby or far away?
Studies show that most pollen exposure (often 70–90%) comes from nearby sources, such as local trees and vegetation. A good pollen forecast therefore depends on accurately representing local vegetation. Pollen can travel long distances, but this usually matters only early in the season or during specific wind events.
Are pollen levels in Eisenstadt based on measurements or forecasts?
Pollen data is often misunderstood. Most "pollen levels" are not real-time measurements, but forecasts.
Direct pollen measurements are typically delayed by 1-2 days because they require manual analysis. To show current conditions in Eisenstadt, modern forecasts combine recent measurements, weather data, and information about local vegetation.
This allows us to estimate pollen levels for today and the coming days, not just report the past.
