Hanoi's air quality reflects the Red River delta's flat basin position, with vehicle traffic on the surrounding ring roads and the extraordinary motorbike density and surrounding northern Vietnamese industrial corridor generating elevated PM2.5 and NOₓ. The northeast monsoon's dry winter season concentrates emissions from October to March, while the summer southwest monsoon provides wet season cleansing and Hanoi's combination of industrial, vehicle, and biomass burning sources maintains consistently elevated readings throughout the year.
