Haiphong's air quality reflects the Red River delta's flat coastal plain position adjacent to Ha Long Bay, with vehicle traffic on surrounding expressways and the port, cement, and manufacturing corridor generating elevated industrial PM2.5. The Gulf of Tonkin's maritime breezes provide coastal ventilation, while the dry season northeast monsoon concentrates industrial and vehicle emissions and Haiphong generally maintains moderate to elevated northern Vietnamese coastal industrial metropolitan readings throughout most of the year.
