The Villages' air quality benefits from the flat Central Florida position surrounded by natural lakes and recreation areas providing reasonable dispersal, with vehicle emissions from US-441 and the surrounding golf cart and low-speed vehicle community character contributing unusually modest local sources for a community of its size. Summer ozone from subtropical heat and regional central Florida traffic is the primary warm-season concern.
