Perris' air quality reflects the Perris Valley's partial topographic enclosure in Riverside County, with vehicle emissions from I-215 the primary local source. The valley's position in the broader Inland Empire basin means temperature inversions periodically concentrate ozone and PM2.5, while windblown dust from the surrounding dry lake bed contributes elevated PM10 and the persistent basin inversion affects the entire southern Riverside County corridor.
