Antelope Canyon's air quality benefits from its elevated Arizona Colorado Plateau position near Page, with consistent desert plateau winds providing reliable ventilation across the Navajo Nation lands. The slot canyon's narrow sandstone walls create distinctive topographic effects that concentrate windblown sand and silt PM10 within the canyon during wind events, while the remote plateau setting otherwise maintains generally good conditions and the extraordinary photographic light beams are themselves created by dust particles throughout the year.
