Dubai's air quality reflects the Arabian Gulf coastal position in the flat Al Ghaf desert, with vehicle traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road and the extraordinary construction activity generating elevated PM10 alongside the surrounding petrochemical industrial corridor. Windblown Arabian desert dust generates severe PM10 episodes during shamal wind events from the northwest, while the Arabian Gulf's sea breezes provide coastal ventilation and Dubai's combination of construction dust, vehicle emissions, and desert dust maintains consistently elevated readings throughout the year.
