Al 'Ayn's air quality reflects the UAE's Al Ain oasis position at the Hajar Mountain base at 287 metres near the Oman border, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the government, university, and construction corridor contributing local sources. Windblown Arabian Desert and Empty Quarter dust generates elevated PM10 during shamal events, while the oasis setting and the mountain backdrop create modest topographic variation and Al Ain generally maintains moderate UAE interior oasis city readings throughout most of the year.
