Şabyā's air quality reflects the flat Saudi Arabian Jizan Province Red Sea coastal plain at 14 metres adjacent to the Yemen border, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the agricultural, fishing, and cross-border trade corridor contributing local sources. Consistent Red Sea northerly winds provide maritime ventilation, while the conflict in neighbouring Yemen contributes regional smoke and dust on southerly winds and Shabya generally maintains moderate to elevated southwestern Saudi Arabian coastal corridor readings throughout most of the year.
