Najrān's air quality reflects the flat southern Saudi Arabian Najran Province basin at 1,183 metres adjacent to the Yemen border and the Najran Dam, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the military, government, and agricultural corridor contributing local sources. Windblown Rub' al Khali and Najran Basin dust generates elevated PM10 during shamal events, while the conflict in neighbouring Yemen contributes regional smoke on southerly winds and Najran generally maintains moderate to elevated southern Saudi Arabian border basin city readings throughout most of the year.
