Aţ Ţā'if's air quality benefits from its elevated Hejaz Asir Mountain position at 1,879 metres, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the rose water, honey, and agricultural corridor contributing modest local sources. The elevated highland position aids dispersal compared to the flat Saudi coastal and interior cities, while windblown desert dust reaches the highland in reduced concentration and Taif generally maintains among Saudi Arabia's more moderately ventilated elevated highland cities throughout most of the year.
