Al Hufūf's air quality reflects the flat Saudi Arabian Eastern Province oasis position at 150 metres, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the oil processing, government, and construction corridor generating elevated industrial emissions. Windblown Arabian Desert dust generates elevated PM10 during shamal wind events, while the flat desert terrain generally allows reasonable dispersal and Al Hofuf generally maintains moderate to elevated Eastern Province oasis city readings throughout most of the year.
